Founded during a harsh Welsh winter by an Australian missing the sunshine, Apricus by Nature was born from a simple sensorial realisation: the gentle magic a sun-filled moment can bring… the warmth on our skin, the lift in our mood, the spark of creativity, and the happiness found in beauty, nature, meaningful connection, and everyday rituals.
Today, Apricus is the sun-kissed home of Sensorial Living for Wellbeing™ — our living philosophy, expressed through embodied coaching, stories, gatherings and rituals that inspire human flourishing.
why Apricus?
Apricus was founded during a harsh Welsh winter by an Australian missing the sunshine.
Having grown up beneath endless sunshine, Briseis was surprised by how profoundly the absence of sunlight affected her mood, energy and overall wellbeing. It reminded her that our full potential is often shaped by the seemingly simple things we can so easily take for granted — natural light, nature, meaningful connections, purposeful work and the daily rituals that protect and restore us.
While brainstorming on a company name, she discovered the Latin word apricus, meaning warmed by the sun.
It immediately felt like more than a word. It’s sound carried the memory of warmth that she had been missing — a reminder of the luminous magic that a sun-kissed moment can bring — the warmth on the skin, the spark of creativity and the tender happiness that helps us flourish.
At the time, Briseis was navigating her own defining transition — living between countries, reimagining her future and career, and questioning what a meaningful life looked like beyond achievement alone. Looking back, she realised that throughout almost 30 years in creative leadership, publishing and designer roles, she’d instinctively developed rituals that helped her sustain creativity, stamina, resilience, calm and committed under pressure. Daily rituals became her saving grace, and the early expressions of what eventually inspired her switch into the wellbeing arena.
During the midst of a harsh winter hibernation season, while surrounded and mesmerised by the ever-changing landscape of rugged, wild beauty of coastal Pembrokeshire, Wales, Apricus by Nature was born.

Hello Sunshine!
I'm Briseis (pronounced Brie-say), writer on courageous living and founder of Apricus by Nature.
Apricus was born from a simple belief: that life becomes richer when we slow down long enough to notice it. Not just the extraordinary moments, but the everyday natural beauty that surrounds us, the rituals that restore us, the conversations that reconnect us, travel adventures that humble us, and the courage it takes to begin afresh.
Having lived between countries, rebuilt careers, founded creative businesses and embraced my own seasons of reinvention, I've come to believe that life's defining transitions aren't interruptions to our story… they are chapters that shape it.
For more than three decades, my work centred on imagining possibilities before they existed. I led creative teams, shaped brands, published magazines and helped organisations bring ideas to life. Looking back, I realise I was always doing the same thing… helping possibilities become reality.
Today, that same creative lens has found a new canvas.
Rather than helping organisations imagine what's possible, I now help people imagine — and courageously create — the next chapter of their own lives.
Why Apricus truly began… a well-travelled ritual that changed everything.
For much of my career, one little ritual travelled everywhere with me. Long before Apricus, I carried a little pouch filled with sensorial treasures to help anchor me daily, which became my saving grace and desktop shrine, to see me power through my 25+ year career as a creative professional, working within fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environments. My little ritual pouch accumulated a thoughtful collection of beautiful things over the years: natural remedies, a favourite seasonal scent, a shell combed from a beach walk, sacred keepsakes. They helped ground and inspire me, and reminded me to pause, breathe and return to myself amidst demanding creative productivity.
Ever since, this daily ritual practice has become my little luxury journey, carried wherever life takes me.
Looking back, I realise that daily ritual became the earliest expression of what would one day become Apricus. My pouch full of sensorial treasures became my grounding companions that have carried me through creative deadlines, relocations, major life transitions, travelling between countries. to anchor me no matter where I am in the world.
Today they continue to inspire our philosophy of Sensorial Living for Wellbeing™, our thoughtfully curated Sensorial Treasures™, and our belief that even the smallest rituals can create the greatest transformations.
I believe wellbeing isn't something we occasionally do or pursue. It's a lifestyle. Apricus exists to help people navigate everyday and life's defining transitions, with courage, clarity and imagination… through embodied coaching, sensorial wellbeing, thoughtful storytelling and meaningful community.
My greatest teacher has been life itself. Every joyful chapter, every goodbye, every courageous departure, every reinvention and every unexpected beginning has reinforced one simple belief:
Imagination allows us to see possibilities before they exist. Courage is what brings them to life.
I believe that, in an increasingly automated world, our greatest contribution remains deeply human… our capacity to imagine, create, love, adapt and consciously author meaningful lives.

the story behind our naked sun
The Apricus sun is more than a sunny icon, it carries a meaningful story.

Our Apricus sun was inspired by a treasured deck of fortune-telling cards.
My Spanish grandmother, Marina, bestowed the rare gift of guiding clients to foresee their future or fortune through most of her remarkable life. She began reading tarot cards at nine years old in France, after she lost her mother, and continued readings for clients all over the world, well into her nineties!
Deeply intuitive, wonderfully courageous and way ahead of her time, Marina travelled the world but Sydney, Australia became her chosen home. She kept her cards close but always embraced life with a generous heart. She gave me readings for decades, and if she were still alive today, would be our Apricus tarot reader.
When I created the Apricus story and identity, I recalled the sun card from Marina’s deck. The lucky one. I redrew it, inheriting a sentimental symbol of luck into the soul of Apricus. This identity also became the last brand story I designed in my 25+ year creative professional career. An endearing way to end an epic career. And just before the industry landscape shifted into the age of AI.
This sun carries more than sunshine. It represents warmth, courage, hope, luck and possibilities. It also holds the golden memories of a courageous woman who instilled the magic, into believing I too can curate a colourful life journey. I carry Marina’s light forward with grace.
